Just let it flow

Eve is one brilliant person. Not only is she my daughter but she is beginning to embrace life to the full. I really began to feel that today as I dropped her and her friends up to Dublin airport to start their 22 day trek around Europe. They fly into Belgium and spend their first night in Brugges. After that they will go with the flow regarding what happens next. They have some idea of where they want to go but nothing definite.

As we grow up we sometimes despair when we don't see definite plans being made. We spend a lot of our lives thinking that those who pursue goals constantly have a greater purpose in life. Goals can be great in putting a focus on where it wasn't before. But if we get caught up in the need to be constantly acheiving goals to justify our existence we lose the chance to walk down paths we wouldn't normally venture down.

Pooh Bear never set goals to ensure his supply of honey was always on tap. He gave no energy to the possibility that there would be none.Ultimately flowing on the wings of a life that never gave energy to what didn't matter. Pooh never went hungry.

When I think about it. It has always been the experiences that happen by chance and no forthought that can provide the most wonder.  So Eve and her friends have embraced the will to travel whatever way the wind blows( to some extent! No plans to jump on a slow boat to China just yet) and discover experiences that other people never get to experience because we have a fear of just letting life happen.
